Many conservatives are still steaming upset about the “trifecta bill” the House Republicans passed, and Senate Democrats killed.
In all of this discussion, the fact of who was behind this bill has been left out. Let’s look at that for a moment.
As my new favorite site Government Track.us shows:
Rep. William Thomas [R-CA]
Rep. Roy Blunt [R-MO]
Rep. John Boehner [R-OH]
Rep. Howard McKeon [R-CA]
That’s right. Republican Majority Leader John Boehner not only pushed the bill through the House, but he even wanted everyone to know that he put his stamp of approval on it. Here’s what his press release on the bill says:
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) issued the following statement after passage of the Estate Tax and Extension of Tax Relief Act (H.R. 5970):
“Working families and family businesses deserve tax relief, not Democrat tax increases. It is fundamentally wrong for Americans who are taxed almost every waking moment to also be taxed upon their death. This bill also includes important tax relief for research and development and small businesses seeking to employ welfare recipients.
“There are divergent views among members of our Republican majority as to the economic impact of an increase in the minimum wage. We were able to reconcile these differences to pass a jobs-neutral bill, instead of the job-killing bill Americans would have received under a Democrat Congress.
“I commend Chairman Thomas for his unyielding commitment to protecting America’s workers and our small business community.”
So, if you were upset by this bill and you happen to be represented by a Republican in Congress – you should demand that John Boehner be replaced as Majority Leader.
