Hoeven Requests a 15% Budget Increase

Yesterday Governor Hoeven set forth his proposed budget for the 2007-2009 biennium. (Official Documents Here)

Here is a snapshot of what he has proposed:

And here is a snapshot of the 2005-2007 Budget bottom line:

The bottom line is that the governor wants to increase the General Fund Budget from $1.98 billion to $2.28 billion – an increase of 15.1% Last session, the legislature increased the budget by 12.7%. So over a two session span, under a Republican Governor and a Republican Legislature – the State Budget will have increased 28%.

So much for conservatism.

*The General Fund represents only a portion of the total North Dakota Budget. It is one of the games the politicians play with the numbers.
